How to install new Drivers on VU+

Here is a little guide to install new VuPlus drivers.
FOR OLD KERNEL
First of all make a backup copy of the current drivers, copy all the files in
/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra
When new drivers comes out, take tar.gz drivers file and unzip all files in
/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra
and replace old drivers.
Than reboot your decoder, that’s all.
If image reboots correctly new drivers are compatible with your image, if image doesn’t start it means that the drivers are not compatible and you have to wait for a image upgrade.
In this case to go back to old drivers, just connect with ftp and copy the drivers you backup before to:
/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra

HowTo flash/update Vu+ images

To install a new image, you need an empty USB stick FAT32 formatted.

  1. Download image zip file for your Vu+ model;
  2. Unzip the zip file and you will have a folder named vuplus and under the folder, you will have another folder named after the model of your VuPlus set;
  3. Copy the vuplus folder (including all the sub folders and files in it) to root folder of your USB stick;
  4. If you have any folder named vuplus on any device connected to your Vu+, delete the folder or rename it;
  5. Turn off your Vu+;
  6. Insert the USB stick to the front USB port on the set;
  7. Turn on your Vu+.

How to upgrade software for your VuPlus

Download a zip file for your VuPlus model from http://code.vuplus.com.
Unzip the zip file and you will have vuplus folder and under the folder, you have another folder named after the model of your VuPlus set.
Copy vuplus folder (including all the sub folders and files in it) to root folder of an USB memory.
Turn off your VuPlus set and insert the USB memory to USB port on the set.
